Seven years after retiring the challenge, Trevor Powers has introduced his first new album as Youth Lagoon since 2015’s Savage Hills Ballroom. Heaven Is a Junkyard is out June 9 through Fats Possum. Watch the Tyler T. Williams–directed video for the lead single “Idaho Alien” under.
Following Savage Hills Ballroom, Powers launched two albums (described in a brand new press launch as “experimental tapes”) underneath his personal identify: 2018’s Mulberry Violence and 2020’s Capricorn. In a press release, Powers mirrored on his resolution to halt Youth Lagoon in 2016. “I felt like I used to be in a chokehold,” he stated in a press release. “Although it was my music, I misplaced my manner. In lots of methods, I misplaced myself.”
The revival of the challenge got here after an over-the-counter drug response induced eight months of hurt to Powers’ larynx and vocal cords, briefly silencing his voice. “I wasn’t positive if I’d ever be capable to communicate once more, not to mention sing,” he added. “All of it felt symbolic in a manner….
