QUETTA, Pakistan — Assailants attacked Pakistani troopers conducting an operation in a restive southwestern province, and three of the troopers and two insurgents have been killed, native officers and the navy stated Thursday.

The navy stated in an announcement the shootout occurred Wednesday within the Baluchistan district of Sui, the place the nation’s essential pipelines of pure gasoline are positioned.
