BEIJING — China introduced sanctions Sunday on 5 American defense-related firms in response to U.S. arms gross sales to Taiwan and U.S sanctions on Chinese language firms and people.
The sanctions will freeze any property the businesses have in China and prohibit organizations and people in China from doing enterprise with them, the International Ministry mentioned in an announcement posted on-line.
The businesses are BAE Methods Land and Armament, Alliant Techsystems Operation, AeroVironment, ViaSat and Knowledge Hyperlink Options.
The International Ministry mentioned the U.S. strikes harmed China’s sovereignty and safety pursuits, undermined peace and stability throughout the Taiwan Strait, and violated the rights and pursuits of Chinese language firms and people.
“The Chinese language authorities stays unwavering in our resolve to safeguard nationwide sovereignty, safety and territorial integrity and defend the lawful rights and pursuits of Chinese language firms and residents,” the ministry assertion mentioned.
China regards Taiwan, a self-governing island off its east coast, as a renegade province that should come beneath Beijing’s management in some unspecified time in the future sooner or later.
