A candidate for an Indiana city council collapsed as he was greeting voters exterior a polling station Tuesday and died later at a hospital.

David “Purple” Worrall was a former councilman who was making an attempt to make a comeback for an at-large seat on the council.

His demise was introduced Tuesday afternoon by the City of Clarksville Administration and City Council, which prolonged its condolences to his family and friends.

“David’s dedication to our neighborhood was really commendable,” the city’s assertion mentioned. “We’ll always remember his ardour for public service and his unwavering want to create optimistic change in our city.”
