Interscope Data co-founder Jimmy Iovine is being sued over alleged sexual misconduct and abuse. A summons for Iovine was filed at this time in Supreme Court docket of the State of New York County by attorneys for a girl recognized as Jane Doe. Doe claims that she was “sexually abused, forcibly touched, and subjected to sexual harassment and retaliation” in August 2007. The lawsuit towards Iovine is for assault and battery, in addition to violations of the New York Metropolis Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Safety Act and the New York Metropolis Human Proper Legislation.

A spokesperson for Iovine instructed Rolling Stone that they had been “shocked and baffled” by the summons. “This inquiry is the primary we’ve heard of this matter,” they mentioned. “Nobody has ever made a declare like this towards Jimmy Iovine, nor have we been contacted or made conscious of any criticism by anybody, together with this unknown plaintiff before now.”

Solely the summons has been filed; the lawsuit itself is forthcoming. Doe’s lawyer supplied no additional remark. Pitchfork has reached out to Iovine’s lawyer for remark.

Along with his work with Interscope, Iovine co-founded Beats Electronics with Dr. Dre. He and Dre are the topics of the 2017 documentary collection The Defiant Ones. Final 12 months, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Corridor of Fame with a speech by Bruce Springsteen.
