Jean Knight, the New Orleans soul singer who topped the R&B chart in 1971 together with her Stax Information single “Mr. Huge Stuff,” has died. Knight’s household confirmed the information in a press release. She was 80.

Knight’s recording profession started within the Sixties with a collection of singles on the labels Tribe and Jetstream, together with a 1965 recording of Jackie Wilson’s “Cease Doggin’ Me Round.” Her huge breakthrough, “Mr. Huge Stuff,” was one of many best-selling singles in Stax’s storied historical past.
