BERLIN — A rhino at a zoo in Austria attacked and killed a zookeeper Tuesday morning and significantly injured one other, police stated.
The deadly assault occurred on the Hellbrunn zoo within the western Austrian metropolis of Salzburg.
Salzburg police stated in a press release that in routine work within the rhino enclosure, a 33-year-old animal keeper was attacked by the animal “for causes which can be nonetheless unknown.”
“The girl succumbed to her accidents on the scene of the accident,” police stated.
Whereas attempting to scare the animal away, one other keeper, a 34-year-old man, was additionally attacked by the identical rhino and significantly injured. He was taken to the hospital.
