A U.S. F-16 fighter jet shot down an armed Turkish drone that was working close to American troops in Syria Thursday after a number of warnings, in line with U.S. officers.

The shootdown got here after repeated communications to steer clear of U.S. floor troops close to al Hasakah, in northeastern Syria. That is believed to be the primary time the U.S. has shot down a drone from Turkey, which is a NATO ally.

Turkey has for the previous a number of days been retaliating in opposition to the Kurdistan Employees’ Get together (PKK) for a suicide bombing that passed off in Ankara Sunday. Turkey considers the Syrian Democratic Forces – who associate with the U.S. within the mission to defeat ISIS – as an arm of the PKK, which it has deemed a terrorist group.

There are about 900 U.S. troops working in Syria as part of the mission to defeat ISIS.

The U.S. is holding diplomatic conversations with the Turks.
