KYIV (Reuters) – Ukraine mentioned on Monday its forces had gained some floor alongside japanese and southern fronts previously week in heavy preventing with Russian troops, reclaiming 37.4 sq. kilometres (14.4 sq. miles) of territory.

Ukrainian forces have been advancing within the Bakhmut course, Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Maliar mentioned, including that Russian forces have been attacking within the Lyman, Avdiivka and Mariinka instructions within the Donetsk area.

“Heavy preventing is happening there now,” Maliar mentioned on the Telegram messaging app.

Ukraine had reclaimed 9 sq. kilometres over the previous week alongside the japanese entrance “on account of enhancing the operational (tactical) place and aligning the entrance line”, Maliar mentioned.

Within the south, Ukraine has regained 28.4 kilometres of territory, bringing the overall space of re-captured territory alongside that entrance to 158.4 kilometres, Maliar added.

Over the weekend, Russia mentioned its forces had repelled Ukrainian assaults close to villages ringing Bakhmut and in areas additional south, notably close to the hilltop city of Vuhledar. In addition they reported success in containing Ukrainian troops within the northeast.
